Shouldn’t there be a warning label on products for phthalates and other toxic chemicals found in plastics!? We think so.
One place manufacturers hide plastic-chemicals is behind the term “fragrance”. Fragrance isn’t regulated by Government since it could include “trade secrets” – and it should be regulated! Phthalates, used to make a smell stronger and last longer, harm human beings, wildlife, and the environment.
Phthalates are added to plastics and can interfere with hormone function and interrupt the brain’s processing. This isn’t good for anyone, especially young children whose brains and bodies are growing quickly. 👩🏾🍼
Products that use “fragrances” are everywhere, from laundry detergent to shampoo, stickers, children’s books, and trash bags. Products historically purchased by populations of color often contain disproportionate amounts of toxic chemicals.
If it smells strong and the odor lingers, it probably contains phthalates. Avoid or reduce use of products that list fragrance on their labels. Studies show changing to cleaner personal care products can lower the amount of certain phthalates in your blood. https://bit.ly/48rEURy
